Part 41

Jeff’s Tales of Woe Pt. 41

Today is Monday, and the homeschool train started up again. I did my bible homework, history, and then math. I saved science for last because I was not going to enjoy it at all. For science today I had to do a study guide, check it, and then take a test. I did the first two steps after some difficulty, and then tried to do the test. I looked, but I could not find the test. On my mom’s desk, in my science folder, anywhere really, but I couldn’t find it. I texted my mom on the off chance that she was on her phone if one of her pupils didn’t need her assistance. I waited and waited, and I am actually still waiting 2 hours later. I know my mom is busy at work, but I’m never going to get my school done. Woe is me.

Part 40

Jeff’s Tales of Woe Pt. 40

For the past few weeks, my dad has been working on a short film of his for the church to show to the volunteers. It’s kind of an old black and white mystery TV show parody. He finished it several days ago and the party was held last night. I had been told by my dad that it was going to be italian food, but I had yet to hear exactly what kind of food it would be. We got there very early and read for a while before other people began to show up. When the food was served, it was lasagna. It tasted so good that I ate all of mine in 5 minutes, along with 2 pieces of garlic bread and some veggies. I went for seconds. When I got back with more, my stomach started hurting. I waited throughout the whole film, but my stomach was stil upset. I was unable to eat any more lasagna. When it was time to go and I still wasn’t feeling great, so I just stuffed down a piece of cheesecake and wasn’t able to finish my second. Woe is me.

Part 39

Jeff’s Tales of Woe Pt. 39

So this is my second Tale of Woe about the yard sale we’re doing. Earlier today I started bringing my stuff down to the yard sale. I had to make some tough calls on what to sell. I got rid of most of my beanie baby collection, decided not to sell any of my Garfield books, and then brought down a really old set of Charlie Brown Dictionaries. I taped all the Charlie Brown books together, and priced the volume of 6 for $5. My mom gave me a bit of trouble about this, because these were given to me from my Grandma (My mom’s mom) and my mom said that she had grown up with these. It took a long time to convince her to let me sell them. (They sold fast.) Woe is me.

Part 38

Jeff’s Tales of Woe Pt. 38

Today is Saturday, and we are doing a yard sale. Yesterday my dad told me when it was starting, but I wasn’t really paying attention. When I heard him marching down the stairs to start the sale, I was very reluctant to get up. When I finally did get up a good bit later, it was 7:15! 7:15! What kind of people get up that early. Still groggy, I made my way down the stairs and into the garage. 30 minutes went by and I didn’t sell a single item. Woe is me.

Part 37

Jeff’s Tales of Woe Pt. 37

So if you read my post about the Code of Mammurabi (Part 28), you know that my mom requires us kids to do something creative for 45 minutes before we get to play any video games or watch any TV. She also requires us to have spent 30 minutes outside. Trying to “skirt the system” as my mom would put it, I started doing creative things outside. I had a mock spelling bee with my sisters outside, had a sort of trivia game outside, and even did a play outside. Then my mom put a stop to it. Now I have to find something creative to do inside and THEN do something outside. Woe is me.

Part 36

Jeff’s Tales of Woe Pt. 36

So school’s really started now  and I’ve kind of found a rythym (When I say that I mean it’s been a couple months and I’m kind of getting into a routine). On Tuesday I have a class from 11:00 to 4:30. On Wednesday I have a class from 8:00 to 12:30. On Thursday I have a class from 12:30 to 2:30 but with a 2 hour round trip. On the middle days of the week, I have a normal amount of schoolwork PLUS 4-5 hours of extracurricular (Which is impossible to pronounce for me. I literally have to say it 5 times before it sounds remotely right) activities. Woe is me.

Part 34

Jeff’s Tales of Woe Pt. 34

So today I went outside with my sisters after lunch like I normally do. We messed around with jumpropes from church (Fused by Peter Nestler was awesome). I started kicking the ol’ soccer ball around (It’s like 10 years old) and then I accidentally kicked it over the fence. I’d done this before, but not recently, so I headed over to the neighbors house to ask for it back. Apparently their doorbell had broken, according to a sign they had put up, so I knocked on the door. We waited for several minutes until no reply came. I started walking back to our house, but my youngest sister insisted that they just didn’t hear it. I knocked pretty loud, so I knew they just weren’t home. My sister wouldn’t stop pestering me to go all the way back. Woe is me.

Part 33

Jeff’s Tales of Woe Pt. 33

So normally, I need to empty the trash every couple days, and I take the trash to the curb every Sunday evening. I started having to do this a month or two ago when I turned 13. A lot of the time I forget to do it exactly when I’m supposed to, which really freaks me out sometimes for some reason. Yesterday I forgot to take the trash out when I was supposed to, so this morning at 4:30 I was dreaming one of those dreams where your partially aware, and somehow my dream was related to trash and then I remembered to take out the trash and I snapped awake. It was really hard to get back to sleep after that, so I’m going to be really tired later. Woe is me.

Part 32

Jeff’s Tales of Woe Pt. 32

So I was really excited earlier today because it was allowance day. Today’s allowance, my allowance while I was grounded, and a little borrowed cash from my sister meant that I had enough money for what I wanted! I woke up at 7:10 A.M. and put my elbow grease on for school. I did a little school reading, some logic, and a few minutes of grammar. I got my first challenge at about 8:30, when I started doing another bit of reading. I looked at it, and it was 7 chapters of some online material. The chapters were horrendously long, maybe 30,000 words each. Halfway through, I realized I was reading the wrong british history. When I finally finished at 1:00, I raced over to the computer/iPad. I brought my iPad over to my dad with the intent of spending my money. This app that I was doing IAPs on was really weird with it’s purchases and it wouldn’t purchase. We had made it work before, but I couldn’t remember how. My dad not wanting to be charged multiple times for one item gave up and said we could try tomorrow. Tomorrow. Woe is me. (Edit: the company still charged us for the item and I didn’t receive it).

Part 31

Jeff’s Tales of Woe Pt. 31

So today I’m finally ungrounded! Yay me! Today I woke up extra early to get all my school done. I finished by 9:30. Now I just have to do all the Code of Mammurabi stuff (See Part 28). I started with cleaning my room and then headed outside. It’s actually pretty hot at 9:45, as I learned. Also, I got really bored outside. When there’s no one else with me, there isn’t much to do so I had to play soccer… with my self, and have a nerf war… with myself. Because I got done so early, my sisters were still doing work so they couldn’t come outside with me. Just goes to show you that sometimes things come back to bite you later. Woe is me.
